Hard Disk recording at higher elevations

Hi ye all!

In mid May I will be recording in Californias Sierra Nevada in Sequoia
National Park.
My current recorder is an Edirol R-4 which only records to hard disk.

The topic of hard disks at high elevations has been touched upon in the
group, but I am still not quite sure how to behave.

I will definitely not record above an elevation of 10000 feet so I do
not fear a complete failure.Yet, would I have to be careful handling the
recorder at elevations below that (6000 to 7000 ft), taking into account
that the pillow of air above my hard disk is thinner?

(I was trying to get the new Edirol R-44 SD-Card recorder, but it is not
yet available.)

Any comments would be appreciated.
