Its a very heavy rig for birding, however. The Rode and ME66 are fine 
for monaural birding now, but neither mic is a ready match for a 
partiuclar Mid-Side mic down the way. The Figure 8 mic options, as we 
have discussed many times, are limited. I'd be inclined to look for a 
used mkh 60 or mkh70 and add a mkh30 when budget permits or maybe go 
for a spaced array using lower noise omni mics for ambience subjects. 
Of course, you can replace the ME-66/Rode with an mkh 60 or mkh70 if 
they prove to be a poor match for an mkh30. Rob D.
