Hi All By mid April, I'll be the proud owner of a shiny ne Sound Devices 702. I've spent the higher budget on the recorder first as that will last me a long time. So my question is, what would be the best choice to buy for what will be the first of many microphones. My main interests at this stage are bird and ambient surroundings. However, recording the occasional street musician may also take place. I want this first mic to also be a suitable choice for use in an M/S pair when I get another mic a bit later. I've been thinking along the lines of a shotgun, possibly the Rode NTG-2 or the Audio-Technica 897. (But I could be way off base) I live in South Australia so extreme weather conditions aren't a factor. Any suggestions (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated. Regards John |
