Robin, thanks for sharing your experiences with the Zoom H2. What gain setting did you use when recording? The posts I've read elsewhere say the H2's best recordings (that is, the best balance of self-noise and high volume) are made at a gain setting of 100. Above 100 and the self-noise becomes intrusive. Below 100 (or thereabouts), the record level decreases. When I had an H2 for a few days, I liked the results with a gain setting of 95. --oryoki |
