I have a new H2 that I just used today for the first time
professionally. I was recording a conference, and they added a
session in a different building across the street at the last minute.
(this does relate, so keep reading...) I set it up as they requested,
MP3 at 128 in surround 2 track. But when they brought it back, it had
recorded 44.1 16 bit wav - somehow the settings changed after it left
my hands. Plus, every time I turn it on, it is set for 44.1/24bit, so
I have to change it for any other format.
My point is, every time you turn it on, you must check the settings
and see that it is what you want! Either I have not found how to get
it to retain the settings, or it simply reverts to its own normal
each time. This is not a problem usually, as I use 44.1/24bit almost
exclusively, but after setting it up to deliver MP3 I had to do post
processing to fix it. On the other hand, it can also convert the
files to MP3 internally, should you need that, which even mt SD 744T
will not do.
Just a few comments from the field, in this case the conference
field, that puzzle me about the otherwise brilliant (for $200) H2.
