The Song Meter can capture 50 hours or more of audio tracks.
Analyzing this much audio for the presence of a target species is a
daunting project!

Wildlife Acoustics has developed software called Song Scope to speed
this task. First, the software is trained to identify a particular
audio pattern. Then the program scans the WAV files to find the
pattern. The process creates a "hit list." A human listener can
review the hits to improve accuracy.

This is not a perfect solution. Wildlife Acoustics claims the
software can identify 80% or so of the target vocalizations. If you
need to scan for multiple species, you have to run the program
multiple times. And the software is designed to find known sounds,
not unknown ones. So Song Scope can't tell you when a new species is
present.

Even with these shortcomings, Song Scope is a welcome tool for audio
analysis. Read more about Song Scope here
