I've not used the Flashmic, but just off the top of my head what about
using a pair of little lav's like the 183's or something and one of
those tiny Zaxcom body recorders or just a minidisc recorder?  Then
you'd be getting stereo.

I agree that the Flashmic seems good, it looks rugged enough and
hopefully the cap is humidity proof.

Anyway, sorry not to really answer your query Martyn.

Keep us posted about the boat-rig and maybe a photo or two if it looks
cool!
