I usually use the SLIK Pro 500DX legs with a spotting scope and they
are well made and very sturdy, tho' perhaps not quite up to manfrotto
quality in terms of finish. I've used the legs with a shock mount
screwed directly to the threaded stud normally used to mount the head
and that combination was very stable even in windy conditions.
