Hi Scott
Take a look here:
http://www.uwm.edu/~type/audio-reports/HiMD/index.htm
Then click on the text 'Curt Olson's urban ambence with AT-3032's followed =
by Shure WL183's.' which is alongside a picture of the AT3032's. This will =
link you to a recording comparing the AT 3032's to the Shure WL183's. I thi=
nk you will find it interesting.

I see the self-noise spec on this mic is listed at -22.5 db
(A-weighted) . I come from the studio world where all our mics tend to
be 10 to 15 db quieter than this & I'm wondering what users of this
Shure have to report about the noise performance, say, into a decent
but not superlative preamp (front end of a Sony DAT, maybe) in a quiet
forest setting.
My recollection of the run-of-the-mill Sony lavaliers I used in the
80's was that they were simply too noisy for any critical recording.
Thanks,
Scott Fraser
