You could work a MKH30 with the MKH80 or MKH800, but they differ quite a
bit in self noise and sensitivity. It's like they are different capsule
or electronics.

Unless you need the frequencies above 22kHz, there is really no
difference between the MKH80 & MKH800. The MKH800 is just a redesign to
cover higher frequencies.

Note the MKH80 or MKH800 are side address mics, while all the others are
end address. This makes a difference in suspension and wind protection.
That's more the problem than diameter, they are hardly different from
the others in size.

I'm still fiddling with designing a mic suspension/windscreen for the
side address Rode NT2000. It will use the zep I have for the 80's, but
otherwise is a entirely new design. Even the zep I won't be using the
end cap. Once I work all that out I'll probably design something very
similar for the MKH-80s, probably using a mono zep for them. Everything
got put on hold for my cancer stuff, so I'm just beginning to get going
again.
