NetMD was designed as a one-way street -- download in digital form to minidisc machines, but no uploads. There were a few attempts to work around this by mindisc enthusiasts, but no real success. The good news is that the new MD-RH1 recorder, working with Sonic Stage 3.4 or 4.0, will allow you to upload original recordings made on standard minidisc machines, including NetMD models. The uploads use a USB connection, transfer in digital form, and are copied at faster than real time. This upload feature is available only with the RH1 and its lookalike MZ-M200 "professional" model. The MD-RH1 costs about $320 in USA. Incidentally, Sonic Stage will not copy tracks originally transferred from computer to minidisc using NetMD. Sony is concerned that these tracks contain copyrighted music. --oryoki |
