Oryoki spoke of 5" diskettes - I have some 8" diskettes. I also have an 8" drive - but I no longer have a computer that runs MS-DOS 5.0 ***slowly enough*** (!) to run the drive, so the disk drive is useless. Upgrading from Win9x to XP made my HP slide scanner obsolete - no drivers. I had to keep an old computer just to run it. So, you have to bear in mind that any link in the hardware and software chain that runs your storage medium can suddenly disappear. IMHO hard drives are likely to be compatible longer than floppies and CDs, but nothing is forever. ======== Chuck Bragg, Pacific Palisades, CA Membership, Newsletter, Web manager Santa Monica Bay Audubon Society www.smbas.org ======== |
