I did not intend for my original post to cause anyone to 'bust a blood
vessel'. Yes due to my 'dyslexia' I inadvertently inserted the Shure
WL183 omni mic rather than the Shure WL 185 cardioid. My mistake, I
had been reading about and listening to samples of the WL 183 when it
struck me that if they did a cardioid it would possibly be a
convenient way to make a small figure of 8 microphone. So with WL
183's running around my head I made a big boo boo in my original post.
In a previous post someone had mentioned they were looking for a
figure of 8 microphone and had heard that 'Countryman' were possibly
bringing one out. I just thought that until they do if somebody
wanted, as they had mentioned in the post, to add stereo information
to shotgun mic recordings then using WL 185's might be a way of
achieving this.
I did correct myself once Klas had pointed out my error, I am sorry if
anyone felt that the post was so bad it needed to be deleted out of
hand - to them I apologise. Although it is still a valid way for
someone who wished to add some stereo information to their otherwise
mono recordings. I would give it a go myself but the price of the WL
185's over here in the UK would make it very expensive. But in the US
I would have thought it was a reasonable proposition if the prices I
found were correct.
I was only trying to help and did not wish to stir up a hornets nests.
