That's some great info on that chart you supplied the link for Grant; many thanks! All of this is making me even more eager to find out about the Sennheiser MKE44-p. Does this mic actually exist??!! Reports of sightings / hearings appreciated. Another mic that I've come across is the Studio Projects LSD2...no, seriously, that *is* the model number! http://www.studioprojects.com/lsd2.html It seems to have the perfects combination of being a single-bodied beast yet having the flexibility of multiple pick-up patterns for each capsule. However (you just knew there'd be a downside...right?), it seems to be based on their C1 model, which has a self-noise of 17db, and I'd like to get it down to 13db or thereabouts. [sigh] In desperation I'm even thinking about the possibility of a pair of Rode NT2a or NT2000, superb low self-noise, multi pick-up patterns, just a darn bugger to build a windshield for and use in the field. More suggestions very welcome! Dave. |
