It is a great sounding mic, I was nearly in tears one morning when i
hiked into the forest for about an hour to record the local birdsong
and it just went splutter pop phutzzz. Mind you it was 85% humidity
and 30c , but still.....
I used to work in a recording studio and am a big fan of the "neumann
sound" , not sure why but to my ears it seems to be a great companion
to the digital recording medium.
"Warmth with Clarity" is what i call it , I'm often asked why my
recordings sound "warm" and what processing I've used , simple, use a
mic that sounds like that. I don't EQ , only roll off the lows
depending on the sound source. And only then using the matrix box
either at 80 or (usually) 200hz. Using a SQN4S mixer helps with
getting a great sound with little noise too...
