Hi Bruce--
Fun! I took a listen to the uncompressed long version. With the low
Hz roll-off (and EQ?) I find myself restricted to evaluating mid and
high frequency localization and this judgement is is affected by the
placement/variety of the species in each take. There's a lot of
spatial information in the lowest octaves of recordings. "Depth"
involves the establishment of a "horizon" and the lowest frequencies
with their power to travel great distances provide the most important
clues. Did you by chance generate a version without the roll-off and
EQ? Thanks a ton for doing this test! Rob D.
