I recorded this howl on the 4th of April. I live along a creek in Central Illinois. The creek is wooded but the area is primarily agricultural. My equipment is a Marantz PMD 670 solid state recorder and Audio- Technica Pro 37 R cardioid condenser microphone and was simply placed in my back yard. This howl woke me up and this is the sound that I recorded: http://www.stancourtney.com/sounds/04.04.2006IllinoisHowl.mp3 I have had suggestions about it being a coyote, coy-dog or fox. I have heard lots of those animals but nothing like this. I did not know if we have anyone in the group with special knowledge with these animals. Thanks, Stan Courtney_Central Illinois http://www.stancourtney.com ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
