I heard a lot more room and less direct than in the 3032 sample;
without knowing that the mics were in exactly the same
position and the room was in the same configuration (doors
open vs shut, etc) I'd say it's not an exact A-B test.
All omni's have some directional character, expecally at
higher frequencies ... the MKH 20 almost sounded like
cardiods pointed *away* from the sources.
Maybe their diaphragms are dirty since they're so old?
Also, since you were running them from an R4, maybe
the draw on the phantom was affecting things. I've
never used any MKH mics, but my AT3032s are a lot
easier on phantom suppiles than for example my
Earthworks SROs, and they sound almost as good
on loud transients, and they are quieter.
