Two suggestions:
1. Keep the recorder in "record-pause", not in "stop" between recordings.
It can stay paused for extended periods without harming the recorder or
medium, and the battery drain is negligible.
2. Consider one of the new Sharp models, like the MD-DR7, which has a
pre-record (they call it "trace-back") function. With this function turned=
on, your recorder is always recording 5, 15, or 30 seconds of sound (you
set the time) to its buffer, and when you press "record" it writes the last=
5, 10, or 30 seconds to the disc and continues to record. That way you
never miss a sudden unexpected vocalization. You can borrow mine for a
trial if you want.
