Ryan, An addendum to my reply regarding the use of the Rode NT4 mic with a minidisc recorder: the mic is sensitive to wind and even slight breezes. In the field, it should be enclosed in a substantial windshield to prevent diaphragm thumping. I use a homemade shield of foam and artificial fur.
