I haven't been following the dialog on this one, but if you'll be 
anywhere near the Sierras there's a great place to record the Western 
spadefoot toad (spea intermontanus) to the north of Mono Lake (just 
east of Yosemite). You gotta get there late March early April, 
though...the best times...and probably good this year because of the 
snowpack. Also, the Pacific tree frogs are out in abundance already 
and will be (depending on precip) for another couple of months 
especially between our valley (Sonoma) and the coast. Dawn choruses 
are beginning to occur (we're 40 miles [64km] inland from the Pacific 
east of the coastal range) and have found some lovely spots, 
recently, that are relatively noise-free particularly early and late 
in the day. Anyone's invited.
