I haven't personally used it, Walter. But from the field reports of
others, it would be my next choice when/if my older Offshore
Acoustics h-phone fails. I'm sure it'll record in shallow fresh water
or even in someone's kitchen sink although the lo freq signal in
shallow water is pretty much non-existent. For lo freq, one needs to
have deep water, a long cable fully extended to depth, and critter
vox that puts out a long wave form. But for froggies, insect larvae,
water boatmen, etc., I'd go for it. I just saw it the other day when
Nate brought it by (he's a local student just entering college who
spent 9 months as an intern on a research and teaching vessel in the
S. Pacific) and it looks new. He's got a mini-jack adapter plug that
connected to the MD recorder he was using.

One of the things I've done with spade foots is record one channel
with the h-phone and the other with an in-air mic since they transmit
in both media. The result is pretty outrageous.

All the best,
Bernie
