Wil Hershberger sent me a sound file he modified in Adobe Audition, where h=
e
entered information in the description field accessed via the EBU Extension=
s
tab.
This turns out to be the BEXT chunk description field and I can read it jus=
t
fine with my software.
Problem now solved.

p.s. Wil: did you have to save the file as a BWAV file? Or did you just sav=

this as a simple wave file?
