The problem with the Audition metadata is that it is probably not
accessible by most other software, and certainly not by software on Mac
computers. BWAV is a subset of the WAVE type of file and the BEXT chunk, as
I understand it, is a tighter definition of what is called the RIFF metadat=
a
designation. RIFF is what you write to with Audition.
It is true that you have lots of space with the RIFF fields in Audition, bu=
t
what we need is metadata that is bulletproof . . . completely cross platfor=
m
. . . and readable by lots of software. It appears that BWAV and it's
associated fields are emerging as a standard in the world. The BEXT chunk, =
I
think, is limited to only 34 characters, but it will be bulletproof.
Folks who work with file management and metadata tend to believe this is th=
e
trend with audio files. I believe there is more of this kind of
standardization occuring in Europe.
Yes, there is no specific mention of BEXT chunk data in the audition
help files. However, there is a ton of space to add meta data to a
sound file in audition. Maybe a query to Adobe would get an answer.
