That is expensive!
I have seen some websites which describe how to make your own
hydrophone, but they recommend using contact mics, which sound much
like listening to something through a tin can, so thats no good.
I ave seen some less exoensive ones advertised, but its hard to know
if they sound good.
Heres a dumb question-why is the phantom power so important? Simply
because you dont want to use a battery under water?
