I think they have the know how to produce some really great mics. From what I've gleaned the 418-S is not one of them. When measured against their current best. I'm not in the situation of needing to rush out and buy one, though I'd love to try any such new mic. My yardstick will be the MKH-60/30 or possibly a MKH-60/80 MS. I already have the capabilities being offered in my two mic combo.
