Personally,

I'd wait a few weeks for the first reports to come in on the new Hi-MD
recorders. The option to record 7 hrs on a 1 GB disk, or 90 minutes
uncompressed, is too appealing.

That said the Sharp DR series I had briefly was a great unit. The pre-roll
record feature is wonderful for field recording.
