Brian, I totally agree with Rich. I have 3 MZ-R50's and all work great. I bought two for about $100 on Ebay. All have been dropped once or twice and keep o= n working. If you carry them in your shirt pocket be sure and keep it buttone= d so when you lean over they don't fall out. If you can't button it tie it closed with string, anything to keep them from falling. Also secure the mic cord so if it becomes hung up it won't pull on the recorders mic input socket.
