The balanced mic preamp in the PMD222 is very noisy. You will get an
improvement by (with the appropriate cable end) going into the mini-
jack on the side instead of the XLR.

The next step up would be to replace the PMD222 with a mini-disc or
(preferably) a memory/hard-disk recorder like the Marantz PMD670 for
example.

I agree with the others on hiss reduction software. I love all the
hisses and scratches on old 78's and movies and wonder why anyone
would spend such time and money to "restore" (and ruin) the sound.
But like you concluded, when you are recording something new, it is
always best to eliminate the noise at the source.

El preamplificador de micr=F3fono balanciado del PMD222 tiene mucho
ruido. Te puede bajar el ruido por usar la entrada "mini jack" en el
lado derecho en vez del XLR (usando un cable con mini-plug).

El proximo paso ser=EDa reemplezar el PMD222 con un MiniDisc o mejor
una grabadora digital de memoria y disco duro, como el Marantz
PMD670 por ejemplo.

Estoy de acuerdo con los dem=E1s en cuanto al software de
reducci=F3n de
ruido. Me encanta el ruido de los discos 78's y las viejas
peliculas, y siempre me pregunto porque gastar tanto dinero y tiempo
para "restaurar" (y arruinar) el sonido. Pero como te concluy=F3,
cuando se graba algo nuevo es siempre mejor eliminar el ruido en el
fuente.
