Filtering can help a great many recordings, regardless of microphone. It
just has to be done with care and one has to know what sound is right
for the purpose. I'm not a believer that a parabolic recording should be
forced into some entirely different sound. Nature recording should
develop it's own sound, not try to filter our recordings to some sort of
studio sound. We don't record like in a studio, and should not expect
our recordings to sound that way. Attempting that does lead to
overprocessing.

With the ever increasing levels of man made noise, every one of us is in
a race to learn how to filter that stuff without messing the recording
up. It's going to become increasingly important to understand filtering.
