Thanks Walt. I haven't heard the sound an iPod makes. I just don't want to
be constantly shielding the recorder from my microphone. The advantage of
using a flash card is that there would be no recorder noise whatsoever.

The PCMCIA Type 3 disks my digital camera has make a slight hum. But
also a click when it powers down that's slightly louder. They are
Calluna or Maxtor drives. And are about 10 years old.

I expect the newer stuff still makes a little noise, say like a iPod makes.
