This is what I usually do. Additionally, I'm simultaneously watching the
real-time spectrographic display on the computer. The software I use does n=
ot
save the data immediately onto the harddisk. It just streams the incoming a=
udio
data into a temporary circular RAM buffer and displays its spectrographic
representation on the screen. Once I have recognized a sound event that I w=
ant
to keep, I press a button and can save that section explicitly onto the
harddisk.
