I'm holding for 24bit and recording to a hard drive--need long takes. 
PDA's record to chips, right?   On the preamp side, a gain of 53 dB 
would be quite a downgrade from 66dB with an MP2.  The discussion on 
the laptop tapers group came to the conclusion  the Mic2496's noiser 
too. One 9 volt is nice.  2496 better suited for louder sources 
possibly? Rob D.
