Yes, we are very close to the physical limitations, that prevent=20
further improvements of the noise performance of microphones.
Another issue is the inherent noise of the resistors (and
transistors) in the pre-amplifier, which is also caused by thermal
movements of molecules. In some cases, additional noise may also be
introduced by the phantom feeding circuitry. Our USB audio recording
interface (UltraSoundGate 124 P48) employs a special technique to
minimize that potential source of noise.
