Over the next ten years or so I fully expect to see MD and others go 
away, leaving only solid state or HD recorders. That's what I mean by 
force, no other choice will be available as the trends are now going. 
When my current equipment must be replaced I will only have what's 
available to do it.

Of course it's possible I'll die of old age before wearing out the 
Portadisc. I'm perfectly happy with it, microphones will need a jump in 
top end quality first.

I have seen this happen quite a few times in the course of my life. For 
instance when Reel to reel was effectively replaced by the inferior 
cassette. I was very unhappy with that. I did not shed any tears when 
wire recorders were replaced by tape, however.
