That is, according to my theory, exactly what a male calling Peacock does:

He swings his tail around behind him, facing his competition, and pointing 
his parabola at potential (or heard) competitors, and shrieks his several 
millewatt call at its focal point, thus beaming his maleness at a specific 
direction through the dense vegetation.  Of course the theory would be 
helped immensely if anyone had ever showed that the rump feathers (aka 
tail) could and do reflect sound . . . ;^)
