pre-record buffer
low frequency cutoff adjustable at two levels
limiter
good, quiet preamps and clean phantom power. Quality A/D, D/A. Pro level
electronics and support.
more than 3.5hours record on 8 NIMH AA's, even while powering phantom
power and illuminating metering. Will recharge from 12 volt car battery
(or AC) without removing batteries from machine.
Full size robust controls, full size metering, Steel frame, designed to
handle the field environment, a good match to the size of human hands.
All controls easy to find and work in the dark. Controls operate
heavier, durable switches.
Records more than 60 hours of mono or 30 hours of stereo on $90 worth of
highest quality media (HHb 80's are currently $3.79 or less), nearly
double that on regular media. Extended trips away from computers don't
require really deep pockets.
Max continuous unbroken record, 80 minutes stereo, 160 minutes mono.
Works equally well with macs or PC's, does not need custom software,
just regular sound editing program that can record from computer's audio
input. Has USB I/O built in.
Fully functional recorder, requires no computer, it's recording format
is not tied to a particular computer OS.
Speaker is really only intended for ENG interview use, not exciting,
little volume.

that's a start.

Do you know if the flashman records mp3 Pro or any of the other newer
mp3 formats coming out, or is it tied to the older ones only? Is it
recording fixed rate or VBR? And what encoder? Are these things that can
be upgraded by the flash port?
