Exactly how I'll work most of the controls on the Portadisc via it's
remote connector. However, two things were left off that connection that
I want to bring out. That's the level controls, and the lock for the
display light. One is a pushbutton next to the display, and the other is
a rotating knob. I think I'm going to be happy enough with just rotating
the clutched Right and Left channels together, I rarely reset the two
against each other. So, thats one custom button pusher, one knob
rotator, one milspec cable connector for the control pad, plus the mic
connectors to bring through the case lid. And fit in a sealed window so
I can see the display. I'll probably put in a waterproof power connector
too just for good measure, though for most situations I'll run out of
disk space first.

Next trick is to come up with the connectors and pad. It would be nice
to find a ready made pad, needs at least 9 waterproof pushbuttons if I'm
going to use everything available on the remote plug.

Visualize this:
Low kayak (a Ocean Kayak "Drifter" model), worktable over front of the
sit atop style cockpit with the waterproof box containing the recorder
attached to it, maybe a mount to hold the mics (the telinga with it's
parabolic reflector being the most dramatic picture), and a 2nd box
containing camera gear. Maybe a spotlight. That's where this is all
headed. Out into places where you can't really get out of the boat, and
at night...
