If you want to change the name of a file while it is open: I don't
think that is possible. Nor should it be.

But if you want to rename the file from CoolEdit: you can do it with
Cool Edit's File Open dialog:
- Alt-F and O to open the dialog
- Shift+TAB to move to the list with file names
- type the (first characters) of the old file name rapidly (or use
the arrow keys) to move to the file name
- press F2
- press Home or End (if you want to change only part of the name)
- edit, and press Enter when you're done
- press Esc to close the dialog

Everything without touching the mouse!

You can use all File Open dialogs from all half decent Windows
programs that way, unless they're very old maybe (over five years,
say).

I must be the only one here who loves Windows! Help! Must have to do
with me being a computer programmer. Or maybe because I never used a
Macintosh (which is because I know nobody who has one. I wonder why.
They must have had bad marketing people in Holland I guess.).
