At least 100 YTBCs flew over Uriarra Village towards the Brindabellas at about 5.00 pm this evening. I counted 80 but that was just over half the flock. The biggest flock I counted this time last year was 129.

That is a much larger group than the 5 that have been at Pine Ridge for the past fortnight.

At 09:30 today while watching Sulphur-crested Cockatoos gorging on our White Cedar berries – they must have the digestion of a land-fill billy goat – I saw a sizeable flock of Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos approaching from the south before flying east then west towards me and finally swinging through 180 degrees again to settle on an easterly bearing. Anyhow, all this ambivalence allowed me to form a reasonable estimate of numbers, I’ll bet 25.
