I thought that as well, until last year the magpie along Athllon (between Drakeford and Learmonth) hit me in the side of the head, near my temple, and drew blood. Didn't hurt much, and was only a slight graze, but they can still get you even with a bike helmet on and riding at 20-30kp/h. Later in the season I saw the magpie in that territory dead on the road and I confess that I had mixed emotions about it.

Yesterday I watched a testosterone charged magpie being particularly aggressive and persistent to one of a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles patrolling around here.
