I also have not seen Black-shouldered Kites anywhere around the COG Area of Interest for some time (and thus suggest this sighting should be reported to the database).

However, driving back across the Hay Plains on Saturday they were in such numbers that I peered (as closely as possible @ 110kph ) to check they not Letter-winged Kites - a more exciting species.  Unfortunately for my life-list, they were all Black-shouldered.

Hi all
Saw a Black-shouldered Kite near Glenloch Interchange today and yesterday. It is the first one I have seen around there for about 6 months (or anywhere in the ACT region for that matter). Is it a declining species and are such odd sightings worth reporting?

Peter
