We had a young butcher bird sit in our front tree in Chapman this morning and performed a beautiful song for around 7 to 10 mins - what a melody!! We've lived there since 92 and it's our first. Nigel -----Original Message----- From: Jenny Bounds Sent: Tuesday, 10 March 2009 1:53 PM To: Subject: Grey Butcherbirds In the last week, Ive had a young Grey Butcherbird around my Weston garden. This is only the third record in 23 years of GBS surveys. This bird had caught something, had wedged it in a tree, and was tearing off chunks - possibly a young blackbird, judging by the noisy adult blackbirds nearby. Im aware from the CIMAG chatline, that others in Chapman and Garran have reported butcherbirds around their gardens for the first time or first time in many years. cheers Jenny ************************************************************************ ******************************* |
