The Pinnacle is a good reserve for beginners as there are large numbers of many common species.
,
To tantalise those who like rarer birds, recently I have seen a yellow thornbill, some white eared honeyeaters, a fuscous honeyeater, at least 3 pairs of scarlet robins, a pair of common bronzewings down by the dam, grey currawongs, speckled warblers, a satin bowerbird and a rainbow lorikeet possibly investigating a hollow. The other day on dusk I am pretty sure I saw a peregrine falcon and others have seen them in the reserve recently. Other birds of prey are possible, with collared sparrowhawk, little eagle, brown falcon and hobby all being seen within the past few months.
We may also see diamond firetails and flame robins if we are lucky.
,
So come along on the COG/Field Nats walk tomorrow morning at 9am (at the Pinnacle end of DeSalis St) and have a fun time with the birds. Plus we will probably also find other interesting things to look at such as trees, grasses, insects and mammals, and the management of the reserve.
