As someone who kept many finches (including Double-barred Finches & Red-browed Finches) in aviaries over 30 years ago, it is obvious to see how "happy" they are to get a handful of freshly pulled out seeding grasses of many grass species, including Phalaris, as a variant for the dry seed.
