Although not in the suburbs but in Mt Ainslie Nature Reserve today an adult
Grey Butcherbird at the summit and also another bird heard by the Mt
Ainslie turnoff at Fairbairn Avenue metres from houses.
It seems now is definitely the time to see and hear this species.

[canberrabirds] Butcherbird in
Wanniassa??
Hi
Unmistakable call of a butcherbird about 7.30 this morning! ... just once,
I was waiting at the bus-stop. ...could something have been imitating the
call? I thought I was hearing things!
