Superb Parrots and Koels
In addition to Geoffrey's celebrity
'heard-birds' on Aussie media, I would add the Whistling Kite whose distinctive
call is often heard. A recent movie, Rabbit Proof Fence, shot in WA,
opens with good views and audio of this species. No doubt, on reflection,
others would also be added to this list.

Subject: Superb Parrots and Koels
As an aside, during yesterday's TV coverage the camera
locked onto a Dusky Moorhen. When asked what that bird was, Jack Newton, who
apparently had some history identifying birds on golf courses, proclaimed
"It's a mallard ... I think".
