Using Martin's figures to do a quick calculation
would give an average of 1.22287 individuals per observation. This is still
close to the "G = 1.29" as given in the 21 Year GBS Report. More interesting
though to note that although the observation rate has clearly increased since
the GBS Report was complied, the average number of birds per observation has not
gone up, indeed it has gone down (although from 1.29 to 1.22 is probably not a
significant change.) Note that the GBS Report indicates that the increase had
already heightened in Year 20, note that is also says "No breeding records -
yet."
We can only be thankful that the Crested Pigeon
established itself in time to hopefully out compete and reduce the rate of
increase of the STDO.
