Howdy All,
Further to recent comments of the magpies singing at night....... a
couple of nights recently I've had trouble sleeping so have been
hearing the magpies regularly during the night. When do the poor
birds sleep? As near as I can tell they're singing by 10pm and
continue this all night. I've heard them 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 2:30,
3:30, 4:30, 5:30 over various nights (no my sleeping hasn't been that
bad..... I haven't heard that all in the same night). Last night I
definitely heard them 4 different hours during the middle of the
night. It strikes me as rather extended, and I do wonder when the
poor birds actually sleep?
Also last night in our tree was an owl. Unsure of type as was way up
in tree but it was a two part note in the classic "whoo-hoo" with the
first "whoo" rhyming with boo, and the second rhyming with book. Is
that a "boo-book" owl? Quite a small bird as far as I could tell, at
least as owls go I think?
Cheers.
