Do magpies sleep? + owl

I love the sound of a 'boo book'. Tranquil, yet chilling. Anyway, I am
departing from list reading for the night. Nothing much practicle to say.
Yet always a pleasure reading the COG - Canberra Birds ML.

Thanks again.

As for the owl: if it sounds like a boo book it probably is.
They are the most common owl in Canberra by far (most of the time). It is
the smallest of the local owls. (Some overlap in size with Barn
Owl.)

Phillip,

Thanks for the confirmation of the owl.  It is the first time we've
heard an owl this year, so it was rather nice.  It was in the gum
tree right above our front yard so it was loud and clear in the
house.  Can't say I minded at all, but I am quite glad it didn't
continue there ALL night!! <grin>

Thanks again.

Cheers.
